In fact, you can take complete advantage of video distribution sites to make it all a lot easier. At the very least it will not hurt you to place your videos on sites other than Youtube.

The usual video formats are .mov, .wmv, and .avi, so be sure to choose one of them. Obviously, people have all kinds of applications used for watching videos, so that is why you need to give them a choice. This might seem like a small tip but it goes a long way in making your videos user friendly.
